Fix Google Ads traffic showing as “google / cpc”

Why paid clicks land as generic CPC, and how to pass full campaign data.

When Google Ads traffic shows up as a generic google / cpc with no campaign detail, it usually means the clicks aren't carrying UTM parameters.

The fix: a tracking template

Set up an account-level tracking template in Google Ads that appends UTM parameters to every click, using Google's value tracking placeholders so the campaign, ad group, and keyword come through automatically. Once configured, your paid clicks arrive with full detail and iTracker360 stores it on the contact.

Microsoft (Bing) Ads has the same concept — add a tracking template with UTM parameters there too.

Building links by hand for ads is error-prone. A tracking template applies the same UTMs everywhere, so every campaign is attributed consistently.
