Track which call-to-action was clicked
Use utm_content and utm_term to see which button or link drove a lead.
If the same page has several calls to action, you can record which one a visitor clicked using the utm_content and utm_term parameters — without disturbing the original source attribution.
How to do it
On your own on-page links, add utm_content (and optionally utm_term) to label the call to action:
/pricing?utm_content=sidebar_button
/pricing?utm_content=top_banner
Now a lead's record shows not just where they came from but which CTA they responded to.
Important: don't override source, medium, or campaign
Only override utm_content and utm_term for on-page clicks. Changing utm_source, utm_medium, or utm_campaign on an internal link can replace the visitor's original attribution — so a lead that came from a paid ad could lose that history. Keep the first three for how a visitor arrived, and use content/term for what they clicked once they were there.
